PETERSBURG – Elaine Holsomback, of Palermo, on Aug. 13 resumed her plea made to Upper Township Committee at its May 30 meeting that more Mobi-mats are made available on the municipality’s Strathmere beach.
Addressing committee this time, Holsomback said, “You are not adhering to ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) regulations. Dunes were not created by nature and the mats to get to the beach are not a luxury but a necessity. It’s not just those with physical infirmities who need these mats, but people with strollers, beach carts or really anyone can make good use of them.”
Holsomback said she had collected 550 signatures from residents and visitors supporting more mats and had sent the petition to the Governor’s Office, the N.J. Attorney General and the N.J. ADA Office for action.
