AVALON – Avalon is preparing to eliminate one of the three permits required for pool construction in the borough.
Currently, such construction requires a zoning permit, construction permit and dewatering permit. An upcoming amendment to the municipal code would eliminate the dewatering permit without sacrificing any of the safeguards the borough has in place.
According to Assistant Business Administrator James Waldron, the dewatering permit, a no-fee permit, was put in place to allow the borough to monitor the dewatering process. Improvements in the computer systems that track the process now make the permit superfluous.
