Avalon’s Activities Rescheduled

By Vince Conti

AVALON – At the June 10 virtual Avalon Borough Council meeting, Business Administrator Scott Wahl announced the reestablishment of some programs that the borough closed before Gov. Phil Murphy increased the number of people who could participate in outside gatherings.
Wahl said beach movies would begin again July 7. The borough’s sports camps for non-contact sports will start June 22. Tennis and pickleball courts were to reopen June 15.
Wahl said that the new increased limits for outside gatherings, even if they continued to expand in the direction the governor suggested, would still be too constraining for Independence Day fireworks or the traditional Bay Symphony Concert. Those events were not able to be restored.
