AVALON – Cape May County is making a series of grants to each of the 16 county municipalities using funds the county received from the American Rescue Plan.
The distribution of pandemic relief dollars to the municipalities is in the form of reimbursable grants where the municipality covers the expense and is paid back upon completion of the proposed project.
The grants are up to $400,000 and in each case thus far, the municipalities have received the full amount. Projects proposed as part of the application process must meet the federal requirements for the use of the infrastructure funds.
In Avalon, the funding will be used toward the nearly completed 22nd Street water main replacement project, lifting a sizeable portion of the project expense from the shoulders of the borough taxpayers.
