AVALON – The news that the emergency dredging of parts of Pennsylvania Harbor should be completed by early August was delivered to Borough Council, June 28, by engineer Thomas Thornton.

Thornton said the terms of the emergency permit granted by the state required a quick initiation of the effort by the borough, which has the benefit of an earlier completion.

The winning bidder, Trident Marine, of Longport, has experience with back bay dredging in Avalon and indicated they were ready to start the project. Trident was the lowest bid on the project at $229,120.
