By Leslie Truluck

AVALON – Incumbent Councilman David Ellenberg and Joseph Tipping will be sworn in July 1 during council’s reorganization meeting at 4 p.m.
Council Vice-President Charles Covington will become the new council president and Councilman Richard Dean will become the new vice-president.
Incumbent Councilwoman-elect Nancy Hudanich was sworn in during council’s meeting June 24 because she is out of town this week.
During his last meeting as council president, a position rotated annually among council, Ellenberg gave a year in review speech with the following comments:
“(Being council president) has been an eye opening experience, an educational experience and one that I would have never missed. It helped me understand why and how the process works.
“I am talking about from the introduction of an issue to the final decision-making vote. I have always tried to keep the meeting moving, staying focused on the agenda and listening to what is being discussed,” he said.
Ellenberg noted efforts in communications, with progress in the borough’s Website and public access channel, the environment, with the advent of the borough’s Green Team and updated managements plans and livability, including national recognition for recreation and cultural aspects.
