AVALON – Avalon Mayor Martin Pagliughi announced that the winner in the 20th Annual Avalon Beach Tag Art Contest is 6th Grade student Aiden Foxx. Mayor Pagliughi chose Aiden’s art work to be displayed on all 2018 Avalon beach tags next summer. The announcement was made at the Avalon Elementary School prior to the annual holiday presentation by students Dec. 11.
“Everyone asks me what is the most difficult decision to make as Mayor”, Pagliughi said to the audience. “It’s actually picking the winner of this beach tag art competition because all of the entries are well done”.
Aiden’s winning entry depicts a sunset over the ocean in the middle of the tag, with a red and white ring around the scene. It also features “Avalon 2018” prominently on the front. Aiden was presented with an official plaque from Mayor Pagliughi, along with the very first beach tag of the summer season.
Avalon’s beach tag program runs from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend. Seasonal, weekly, and daily beach tags are available for purchase. Avalon enjoys a reciprocal agreement with Stone Harbor; beach tags from both communities are honored on both beaches. Avalon also offers free beach tags for active members of the United States military and their immediate family members, and free beach tags for all veterans of the United States military.
