37th Special Law Enforcement Officer Class Two Graduation

Court House – Forty-Seven officers from the 37th Basic Course for Special Law Enforcement Officers graduated today at the Middle Township Performing Arts Center. Freeholder Sheets addressed the class along with keynote speaker Cape May County Sheriff Gary Schaffer.
The graduates, who have been training since May 1st, will be serving the communities in Cape May County. Also, each student graduating is entitled to receive 16 credits from Atlantic Cape Community College.
The class started with a physical fitness average of 80.8% and finished with a physical fitness average of 90.9%. The officers lost 147.5 inches from their waists during training and their body fat percentage dropped from 12.4 % to 10.1 %. The class president is Brett Lightner of the North Wildwood Police Department elected by members of the class. The class motto is, “It’s not punishment, It’s preparation.”
Individual Awards are as follows:
High Academic Award: Officer Dane Carroll, Stone Harbor Police, 96.14 %
Vehicle Operations Award: Officer Tyler Brennessel, Long Branch Police, 27.95 sec.
Physical Fitness Award: Officer Charles Amicone, North Wildwood Police. 99.8%
Firearms Award: Officer Robert Wells, North Wildwood Police, 99.43%
Directors Award: Officer Tyler Brennessel, Long Branch Police
