COURT HOUSE – Freeholder Vice-Director Leonard C. Desiderio is proud to announce that the 35th Basic Course for Police Officers will graduate from the Police Academy on June 24, 2013. The ceremony will take place at 4 p.m. at the Middle Township Performing Arts Center, 212 Bayberry Lane, Cape May Court House, New Jersey. Vice-Director Desiderio will address the class and the keynote speaker will be Anthony Saduk, Retired Director of the Public Safety Training Center.
Fourteen police officers from eight departments in New Jersey will graduate after completing a 22 week training program at the Cape May County Police Academy. The Academy is the only residential based training center in the state of New Jersey for municipal recruit training.
The class started with a physical fitness average of 60.4 % and finished at 82.3%. The Class final academic average was 93.56 % and their firearm average was 94.3%. The class president is Recruit Matthew Mehlhouse of the Sea Isle City Police Department who was elected by members of the class. The class motto is, “If you want peace, prepare for war.”
