WILDWOOD CREST – Fire Chief Ronald Harwood of the Wildwood Crest Volunteer Fire Company, reported that, in 2019, the all-volunteer company responded to 299 incidents.
29 active members attended 19 training sessions that resulted in over 800 man-hours of training and education.
The company saw a 15% increase in calls since 2017. This year, the company had an average of 16 members per call out of the 29 active firefighters.
Members had a total of over 4,300 total man-hours of fire response and training and education.
There were 42 dual-engine responses with Station 62, Erma Volunteer Fire Company in the Diamond Beach section of Lower Township. They were per the fire company’s interlocal service agreement with the Erma Volunteer Fire Company.
There were 26 fire-related incidents, cooking, mulch, grass vehicle, outside trash fires, structure fires.
29 rescue emergency motor vehicle accidents, stalled elevators, medical assists.
78 hazardous conditions, gas electrical, carbon monoxide, outside electrical arching, standby for landing zone.
5 service calls, assist police, cover assignments.
20 good intent calls, canceled en route.
141 fire alarm activation and sprinkler activation investigations.
