SEA ISLE CITY – On May 23 at 10:36 p.m., the Sea Isle City Fire Department responded to 5605 Central Ave. for a report of a car fire in the driveway, which spread to the occupied dwelling.
The residents were able to vacate the home, and neighboring homes were also evacuated.
With mutual aid from fire departments from Avalon, Strathmere and Ocean View, the fire was declared under control at 11:18 p.m.
Sea Isle City’s Division of EMS and Belleplain EMS were also on scene. There were no reported injuries.
An adjacent home sustained minor exterior heat damage. All neighboring residents were able to return to their homes.
As of May 24, this incident was not considered suspicious in nature and is being investigated by the Sea Isle City Police Department and the Cape May County Fire Marshal’s Office.

SEA ISLE CITY – Volunteers from the Strathmere Volunteer Fire Co. were dispatched at 10:40 p.m. May 23 for mutual aid to Sea Isle City for a motor vehicle fire at 5605 Central Ave.
According to Strathmere Volunteer Fire Company’s Facebook page, upon arrival it was confirmed there was a working vehicle fire with extension to the adjacent dwelling.
A Strathmere engine took a position on the side of the dwelling and placed two hoses into service.
Interior crews conducted a primary search of both the lower and upper-level units and ventilated the structure. Strathmere units cleared the scene about 12:30 a.m.
Other companies responding were Sea Isle City Volunteer Fire Department, Ocean View Volunteer Fire Co., Avalon Volunteer Fire Department, and Sea Isle City Ambulance Corps.
