OCEAN CITY — Around 7:10 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 14, Ocean City firefighters were dispatched to 10 Sweetwater Court for a structure fire.
Upon first unit’s arrival, heavy fire was reported and additional Ocean City fire stations were requested to respond. That included a recall of all off-duty firefighters.
According to a neighbor, small explosions were heard that prompted him to investigate. When he looked out the window he saw flames shooting from the garage area, and he watched the fire quickly spread.
Bystanders reported a family had just recently moved in the home. A sold sign was still in the yard. The family was believed to have been home at the time of the fire, and escaped unharmed.
Marmora and Somers Point covered the Ocean City fire stations for any 9-1-1 calls that might have been called during the Sweetwater Court blaze.
The fire is under investigation by the Cape May County Fire Marshal’s office.
