By Herald Staff

SEA ISLE CITY — On Jan. 18 at 12:54 a.m., police and firefighters responded to 36th Street and Pleasure Avenue for a reported shed fire.
Located adjacent to the Spinnaker towers condos, the 10-foot-by-10-foot shed, used to store recyclables, was fully ablaze when emergency personnel responded. Police said that the north condo tower also sustained significant damage.
As this fire was being investigated, another fire was intentionally set under the public restrooms at 40th Street and the Promenade, police said.
Police charged William J. Simpson, 49, of Sea Isle City, with second and third degree arson. He was lodged in county jail in lieu of $35,000 cash bail set by Judge Vincent Morrison and another $75,000 cash bail set by Judge George Neidig.
The county Fire Marshal, Prosecutor and Sheriff offices assisted local police in their investigation.
