WILDWOOD CREST – Wildwood Crest Police received numerous 911 calls in reference to a vehicle fire at Palm and Atlantic avenues Sept. 4. Responding officers found a Ford F-450 ice cream truck fully engulfed in flames.
Wildwood Crest fire and rescue companies were called and had the fire under control and extinguished quickly.
The owner of the ice cream truck, Armen Avetisyan of Wildwood Crest, stated that he believes a faulty compressor on the truck may have contributed to the fire. He was able to exit the truck without injury prior to it becoming engulfed.
No injuries were reported at the time of the fire. Phone lines and an area of Atlantic Avenue were damaged as a result of the fire.
