By Press Release

NORTH WILDWOOD – At about 10:45 a.m. Feb. 2, the North Wildwood Fire Department and Squad Co. 3 from the City of Wildwood were dispatched to 311 E. 16th Ave. in North Wildwood for the report of a dwelling fire.
According to a release, Battalion Chief McCrory arrived and reported smoke showing from a two-story duplex followed by Deputy Fire Chief Mike Blizzard who assumed command and requested a full 1st Alarm assignment.
Quint Co. 2 began with an aggressive interior attack while Squad Co. 3 performed the primary search of the fire floor.
The primary search revealed that the occupants were able to evacuate prior the first company’s arrival.
An additional hose line was put into service to protect the west side exposure which prevented the fire from spreading.
The fire was placed under control within 20 minutes of the alarm. Due to the rapid response and quick actions of the first arriving companies, the fire was contained to the room where it began.
The fire’s cause is under investigation by the Cape May County Fire Marshal’s Office.
No injuries were reported however one occupant was treated on scene for anxiety.
