Firefighters’ Hands-on Safety and Survival Training at Annual Wildwood Convention

By Lauren Suit

WILDWOOD — A team of two firefighters maneuvered their way through debris in the pitch black through the second floor of 205 East Poplar.
A wall lay between them and their way out and they were running low on air. The only thing missing was real flames.
The Cape May County Fire Chief’s Assoc hosted a Self-Rescue & Survival hands-on-training class on Sept. 11 at a specially outfitted property at Poplar Avenue. A group of 29 firefighters went through four stations designed to build awareness and education in life-threatening situations.
