Dental Records Help Identify Grande Woods Fire Victim

By Al Campbell

RIO GRANDE — The identity of the Grande Woods Mobile Home Park resident who died in a March 7 fire was identified by Middle Township Police on March 11.
Barbara P. Bulakowski, 61, perished in the 11:15 p.m. blaze along with her dog, Lucy.
Her only survivors are a niece and nephew who reside in North Carolina.
On March 11, that niece traveled from her home to the lot in Grande Woods where her aunt died. She collected whatever she could from among the blackened ruins of the mobile home at 13 Priest Boulevard.
An autopsy was performed by the Southern Medical Examiner’s Office. The cause of Bulakowski’s death was listed as “inhalation of products of combustion.”
She had been identified through pre-existing dental records, police said.
The fire was deemed to be accidental in origin by the Cape May County Fire Marshal’s Office. Its cause has not been determined.
