Dennis Firefighters Extinguish Fire in Belleplain Home

BELLEPLAIN – At approximately 10:30 p.m. Feb. 5, Dennis Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched along with Woodbine Fire Department as part of automatic mutual aid for Belleplain Volunteer Fire Company for a working dwelling fire in the 300 block of Head of the River Road, Belleplain.
According to Dennis Volunteer Fire Company’s Facebook, Belleplain units reported smoke showing from a single-story home.
Dennis Volunteer Fire Company units arrived a short time later and entered the home with Belleplain and  Woodbine crews. They found smoke throughout the dwelling but no evident fire.
Crews then entered the basement and encountered the seat of the fire they made a quick attack on the blaze, then assisted in ventilation and overhaul before clearing the scene approximately one hour later.
Dennis Volunteer Fire Company units on scene were: Engine 18, Tanker 18, Squad 18, Utility 18, Brush 18.
Belleplain and Woodbine Fire, Belleplain Emergency Corps: Emergency Medical Services, the New Jersey State Police, Atlantic City Electric, and the Cape May County Fire Marshal’s Office also responded.
Goshen Volunteer Fire Company provided coverage for Dennis Volunteer Fire Company during the incident.
The fire was under investigation by the county Fire Marshal’s Office.
