Firefighters Rescue Kayakers Off Stone Harbor Point

STONE HARBOR – Two kayakers were rescued after they became distressed a half-mile off Stone Harbor Point March 5.
Stone Harbor Volunteer Fire Company’s Facebook page carried a report of the incident, saying the fire company came to the aid of the North Wildwood Fire Department, which was already engaged in the rescue.
Stone Harbor Fire Department, around 10:45 a.m., dispatched Marine 13, with firefighters Josh Otton and Thomas Hurden, to assist with the two kayakers in distress in the ocean.
Rescuers from North Wildwood and Stone Harbor, on wave runners, found and rescued the kayakers and returned them to the beach in Stone Harbor.
Both kayakers were transported by ATV 13 to ambulances from Stone Harbor and Wildwood Crest in the Stone Harbor Point parking lot.
According to the provided information, one of the kayaks had capsized, and both kayakers were clinging to the second kayak, which was sinking.
Avalon Fire Department, Wildwood Fire Department and AtlantiCare paramedics assisted with the incident.
