STONE HARBOR — Pumping for a state and borough-funded beach fill project is scheduled to start today, Nov. 19.
The project is expected to bring about 245,000 cubic yards of sand between 98th and 111th streets.
Access to Stone Harbor Point is closed until further notice, the borough’s Web Site states. The beach replenishment schedule is subject to change due to weather conditions. There will be temporary beach closings in three-block segments for safety precautions.
The beachfill will cost the borough about $636,000 out of the total project cost of $2.5 million. The state will fund the remainder. Costs are divided for state projects, such as this, between 75 percent state funding and 25 percent from the town.
Stone Harbor is the last of four towns, including Sea Isle City, Strathmere and North Wildwood, scheduled for a beachfill through the DEP this fall.
The project was delayed due to weather. It does not account for erosion that happened during recent storms.
Residents who have any debris from the recent storm may contact Public Works at (609) 368-7311 to have them picked up.
All debris must be curbside and put out by Nov. 23.
