EMT Succumbs On Rescue Call

SEAVILLE – An EMT who collapsed while responding to a medical emergency has died, according to a post on Upper Township Rescue Squad’s Facebook page April 23.
Mort Schmerling responded to a call in Seaville April 13.
He collapsed during the call and died April 23, according to the post.
Cause of death was not provided.
Funeral services are scheduled at Platts Memorial Chapels, 2001 Haddonfield-Berlin Road in Cherry Hill April 27. A viewing will be held from noon to 1 p.m., with services from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., and a procession  to the cemetery with a graveyard service at 2 p.m.
