The Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts (MAC) supports its mission of educational outreach by providing Elderhostel programs in Cape May year-round. Elderhostel is the nation’s largest non-profit educational travel organization serving adults 55 and over.
Cape May-area residents and visitors are invited to attend enriching and educational Elderhostel programs as commuters this fall.
Enjoy “A Culinary Voyage in Victorian Cape May.” No one enjoyed dining quite the way the Victorians did. Come to Victorian Cape May for a quick course on food, its history and traditions and some practical tips and techniques you can use at home.
This program features a combination of lectures, demonstrations and field trips featuring Cape May’s chefs and historians. Learn the how-tos of growing and using herbs and edible flowers. Learn the creative uses of tea as a seasoning at the Carriage House Tearoom & Café located on the grounds of the Emlen Physick Estate, 1048 Washington Street.
Savor a multi-course beer dinner, and enjoy a vineyard exploration, harvest and tasting at the Cape May Winery.
While you’re here, take advantage of the many cultural opportunities this seaside town has to offer its visitors. The program runs from Sept. 21 through Sept. 26 and the commuter price is $175 per person.

Local experts lead field trips to the most important birding locations at peak seasons for migratory birds.
While spring brings warblers and other songbirds onto the shores of the Delaware Bay, autumn highlights are often hawks, falcons, eagles and other raptors over land and skeins of sea ducks, cormorants and other water birds along the coast. Unravel the mysteries of the paranormal amid the famous seascapes and Victorian architecture of Cape May.
