Eagles Fly For Leukemia Golf Tournament and Auction Set For Friday, September 19

By On Deck Staff

Mark your calendars for the annual The Eagles Fly for Leukemia Golf Tournament and Auction to be held September 19, 2008 at the Stone Harbor Golf Club. Chairman, Stan Lane of LANE FINANCIAL is organizing the tournament with support from Ron Jaworski, Vince Papale, Tom Brookshire and a great committee.
The September 19th tournament includes an 11:00 a.m. registration and lunch, 12:00 shotgun start and concludes with cocktails, awards dinner and auction at 5:00 p.m. The entry fee is $275.00. Join past Eagle greats and cheerleaders for a fun day of great golf for a great cause. This year marks the 35th anniversary of The Eagles Fly for Leukemia charity co-founded by Stan Lane and Fred Hill a former Eagles player. The charity has raised over 10 million dollars for Leukemia research and for family support programs, also started the first Ronald McDonald House in Philadelphia in 1974. Last year $43,000 were raised at the golf tournament and every dollar went to fund a special research project for The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).
“When we first started the charity in 1973 children diagnosed with leukemia had less that a 10% chance to live and now the cure rate is close to 95%” stated Lane. CHOP treats about 400 new oncology patients each year and in 2007 over 200 came from New Jersey.
The vision for The Eagles Fly for Leukemia is simple: For a leukemia stricken child to awaken free of the oppressive fear and doubt brought by their affliction; for their parents to sleep at night without tears; for siblings to play without guilt and to find a cure and bring an end to this disease.
You can support The Eagles Fly for Leukemia golf tournament by donations of auction items, raffle prizes and sponsorships. Golfers can also register for the tournament as either a foursome or an individual.
