EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – The Botanist, the closest dispensary for much of Cape May County, will now deliver medical marijuana to registered patients at their homes in the county, NJ.com reported.
Acreage Holdings, The Botanist’s parent company, did not immediately respond to a request for comment on how much of the county they plan to deliver to.
The deliveries will be made on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, NJ.com reported.
The move comes shortly after sales tax was phased out for medicinal patients July 1, 2022. Recreational marijuana purchases are still taxed.
The delivery and tax-free features of the state’s medicinal program have been years in the making, according to NJ.com. Former Gov. Chris Christie was firmly opposed to the legalization process.
The Jake Honig’s Compassionate Use Act was signed by Gov. Phil Murphy in 2019. The legislation permitted delivery and raised limits for patients. 17,000 patients were enrolled before Murphy’s efforts; now over 127,000 are registered patients.
Cape May – Governor Murphy says he doesn't know anything about the drones and doesn't know what they are doing but he does know that they are not dangerous. Does anyone feel better now?
