DENNISVILLE – The municipal governing body decided through a resolution approved at its Nov. 15 meeting to apply for Small Cities funding to improve its playground at the township recreation complex and include ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliant improvements.

Committee members accepted a proposal from Blauer Associates in an amount not to exceed $1,800 to help prepare and submit the application. The ultimate amount of the grant may be up to $400,000 to carry out this public facilities project, which is funded and administered by the state’s Dept. of Community Affairs.

Complementing these decisions, the committee approved an additional resolution providing for the township’s participation in the state Model Citizen Participation Plan, which is prepared for successful Small Cities grantees and sets out regulations to follow if the municipality is indeed awarded this grant.

The Small Cities Citizen Participation Plan encourages, for example, people of low and moderate income to be included in local meetings associated with these grant programs.
