You’d think a column full of what makes a community one of the top ten places to live in the state would deserve a spot in main edition of this newspaper.
This would allow everyone the opportunity to read about our great township each week and learn what it takes for Dennis Township to achieve this distinction.
Alas, we are relegated to the pages of the Herald Times, an edition of this paper you’re lucky to find outside the walls of our town hall.
Is this the reason my information pipeline has dried to a weak trickle?
Can it be you’re not calling me because your information is relevant to the whole county yet rarely seen by anyone outside the lucky few that manage to grab a Herald Times?
Please don’t give up. Keep calling me with your stuff – the Historic Home Owners, The Senior Center, the Home and School Association, the gang at the Crooked Horn Gunning Club and last but not least, the VFW in Belleplain.
You folks help make this a great community. Who knows, one of these days our information will make the big paper, consistently every week, so the whole county can learn about the activity your group is sponsoring and have the opportunity to participate.

Congratulations to Lyndsay Wood for her acceptance to The College of New Jersey. What a great place to be heading next fall.
Lyndsay has combined academics with her love of dance and a great attitude that will make her a shining star on campus. Her scholarship money will come in handy for her folks.
TCNJ is far enough away for the student to get a sense of independence, yet close enough for parents to realize they’ll being seeing their kid with their laundry once in awhile.
How about your kid? Any college acceptance letters arrive yet? Let me know where your kid is heading in the fall.

Tuesday is a busy day at the Senior Center.
The Table Pool Sharks get the day going at 8:30a.m. with a spirited game of eight ball or whatever other games involve chalk and a cue stick. You can almost hear Minnesota Fats saying, “Six ball in the corner pocket.”
Across the room, starting at 9 a.m. are the quilters, followed by the craft group from 1-3p.m.
Pool, quilting and crafts not your thing? Swing by on Wednesday for square dance lessons. Who can resist a good doesy doe?
The center is buzzing with activity all week long thanks to our seniors who don’t like to sit still for too long.
Call Roe at 861-3137 and get the latest on trips and activities.

June is right around the corner and that means school graduations. The eighth grade parents are already making plans for this year’s party.
The organizers of this year’s dance are asking students to bring donations of small toiletry items that will be shipped to Gulf region hurricane victims.
This is an opportunity for students to participate in helping others while they celebrate a milestone in their own lives.

There are two new local committees that have been established to assist the county in some township planning.
The first committee will help redesign the Ocean View area at Sea Isle Boulevard and Route 9. I guess the county needs some help figuring out traffic flow.
The other committee will lend a hand and advice to the planning board on zoning changes that are being considered for the township’s Smart Growth Plan.
If we can just get the two committees to work together and realize the traffic flow and Smart Growth so far hasn’t been smart or flowing.
The county should be looking at Route 9 and Route 83 where there is no traffic light and cars are coming in every direction; going to or from the Smart Growth of trailer sales, antiques, woodland villages and wicker stores.
I hope someone on the Ocean View Steering Committee steers the county a couple of miles south.

Until next week, call me with your stuff. Even your neighbors want to hear your good news.
West Cape May – The amount of TV shows airing is getting out of hand. Less movies are being produced today than ever before. Instead, people are glued to watching shows that most people never heard of.
