WLDWOOD — On June 27 at about 11:45 p.m., a Wildwood Patrolman John Ribera observed two males wearing white t-shirts in the area of the 4500 block of Pacific Avenue acting in a suspicious manner.
According to police, Ribera maintained surveillance of the subjects, and observed them put something over their faces and enter a residence on that block through an open door. Ribera requested additional officers at the scene to investigate the matter. Upon arrival, the two suspects were confronted in the rear yard of the premises they had entered. They fled the area on foot and were pursued by the officers.
One subject was apprehended and was identified as Mark Davis, 20, of Wildwood. The other subject scaled a six-foot fence and was last seen in the area of the 100 block of East Burk Avenue.
A search of the area for the second suspect was unsuccessful.
Investigation into the matter revealed that the two perpetrators had committed a home invasion armed robbery of the premises. Seven male victims were held at gunpoint while over $300 cash and two cellular telephones were taken from them.
The handgun used in the robbery was recovered in the victims’ yard. It was loaded hollow point bullets.
Davis was charged with armed robbery, possession of a handgun without a permit, unlawful possession of a handgun for an unlawful purpose, possession of a defaced firearm, possession of hollow point bullets, obstruction of justice, resisting arrest, and burglary.
He was lodged in county jail in lieu of $200,000 cash bail set by Judge David DeWeese.
Police said, there are still further charges pending against Davis, and the attempt to identify and apprehend the second perpetrator continues.
The second perpetrator is described as an African-American male who has a tattoo on his right forearm. Anyone with information can contact Wildwood police at (609) 522-0222.
