WILDWOOD – Police Chief Robert Regalbuto issued a statement June 6 that Wildwood Police Department’s internal affairs investigation into the arrest of Emily Weinman, 20, will continue.
“The Cape May County Prosecutor released a statement yesterday afternoon (June 5), regarding the incident from May 26 involving Emily Weinman and the Wildwood Police Department,” Regalbuto said in the statement.
“Now that the Prosecutor’s Office has determined that the officer did not meet the standards for any criminal charges in the use of force to effectuate the arrest of Weinman, the administrative investigation will continue to proceed, with the Prosecutor’s Office maintaining oversight.
“Pending the outcome of a thorough and complete investigation, consisting of incorporating all pertinent facts available, obtaining any additional witness statements or possible videos of the incident, affording Weinman her opportunity to participate in the Internal Affairs process, and conducting a final review of all the data available, the City of Wildwood and the Wildwood Police Department will not produce any additional statements, media or press releases or conduct any interviews.
“Once the administrative investigation is finalized, the Wildwood Police Department will issue a statement as to the conclusion of the investigation, and its final disposition.”
