Wildwood Police Apprehend Lower Township Burglary Suspect

SHAWCREST – A residence in the 1000 block of Rio Grande Avenue in the Shawcrest section of Lower Township was reported to have been burglarized Feb. 13 at approximately 2:45 p.m.
The subject was reported to have forced entry into the home and was confronted by the homeowner before quickly retreating. 
The subject, later identified as Alex Garcia Gonzalez, 35, of Wildwood Crest, fled the area on a bicycle and was quickly located by officers with the Wildwood Police Department in the area of the George Redding Bridge. 
A positive identification of Garcia Gonzalez was made and he was taken into custody by Patrolwoman Kaitlin Black with the Lower Township Police Department. 
Garcia Gonzalez was transported back to the Lower Township Police Department where he was charged on a criminal warrant with burglary and criminal mischief. In default of $20,000 full cash bail set by Judge Thomas Hillegass, Garcia Gonzalez was transported to the Cape May County Correctional Center. 
This investigation was conducted by Lower Township Police Officer Black, along with Wildwood Police Officers Sgt. Granero, Detective Elwell, Patrolman Clark and Patrolman Stevens.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty. This report is based on information received from law enforcement.
