Wildwood Man Faces Weapons Charges After Gun Fires

WILDWOOD – The Wildwood Police Department Uniform Patrol Division responded Feb. 8, at approximately 1:15 p.m., to the area of Spencer and Arctic avenues for the report of shots fired.
According to a release, officers came into contact with Jahlin Harris, 21, who lives at that location. Harris was ultimately detained by police pending further investigation.
During the investigation conducted by the Wildwood Police Department Detective Division and Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, a court-authorized search warrant was executed at Harris’ residence, which resulted in the recovery of a spent .45 caliber shell casing and a .45 caliber handgun.
The investigation revealed that during the course of a verbal dispute, Harris discharged one round into the air and then retreated into his residence.
There were no injuries reported as a result of the firearm discharge.
Harris was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose.
These charges were placed on a warrant complaint and Harris was lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Facility in accordance with New Jersey Bail Reform Guidelines.
