Stun Gunner Disarmed, Arrested

VILLAS –– Lower Township police arrested a man who wielded a stun gun and threatened his girlfriend over the weekend.
Police received a call for help from the 100 block of Franklin Avenue here Sept. 29 around 1:30 a.m.
They discovered that William Atkinson, 24, of the 400 block of Fern Road, had allegedly been in a verbal argument with his girlfriend and threatened her with a stun gun, but he was disarmed by another subject who was present at the time of the incident.
During the altercation, Atkinson received injuries to his nose and face. He was treated at the scene by Lower Township Rescue and airlifted to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center with possible facial fractures.
After investigating, Police determined Atkinson was the aggressor and charged him Oct. 1 with possession of a weapon and possession for an unlawful purpose. These charges were placed on a warrant and Atkinson was released on his own recognizance.
Additional charges are pending for aggravated assault for threatening the use of a stun gun on his girlfriend. He also received a motor vehicle summons for an unregistered vehicle.
