WILDWOOD CREST – Wildwood Crest Police responded to the 500 block Stanton Road for a disturbance call June 6. Upon arrival, officers were met by the complaining party and a male later identified as Peter Dotzel, 34, of Carsile, Pa.
Upon checking the identity of the parties involved, Patrol Officer Jon Greene received false information from Dotzel concerning his identity. It was discovered that Dotzel gave a false name to Patrol Officer Green to avoid being arrested on an National Crime Information Center (NCIC) warrant from Pennsylvania. Dotzel was arrested on the warrant and also charged with obstruction of justice. He was lodged at the Cape May County Correctional Center without bail, awaiting extradition.
Several days later, on June 9, Sgt. Denise Holt was alerted of a possible stolen vehicle in the 500 E. block Stanton Road. The vehicle was confirmed stolen from a dealership in Annville, Pa. According to the local authorities in Pennsylvania, Dotzel was allegedly involved with the fraudulent purchase of a motor vehicle. Subsequently, Dotzel was charged with possession of stolen property in New Jersey. The charges were placed on a warrant and bail was set at $15,000 full cash.
The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty. This report is based on information received from law enforcement.
