COURT HOUSE – Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland and Chief of Detectives Paul Skill announce the arrest of Ernest P. McCarraher Jr., 25, of South Seaville, on first-degree drug charges.
Accoding to a release, McCarraher was arrested on the morning of Nov. 12, during the execution of a court-authorized search warrant at his residence.
This search warrant was executed by the New Jersey State Police T.E.A.M.S. Unit and was the result of an investigation conducted by the Prosecutor’s Office Gangs, Guns, and Narcotics Task Force into McCarraher for selling marijuana from his residence and other locations within Cape May County.
Seized as a result of this search warrant were over 30 pounds of marijuana, marijuana edibles, extracted cannabis oils and paraphernalia consistent with the manufacturing of controlled dangerous substances for distribution.
Also seized was a loaded 9mm handgun and $43,656 in currency.
McCarraher was charged with possession with the intent to distribute marijuana; possession of a firearm during a C.D.S. distribution offense; endangering the welfare of a child; money laundering; possession of more than 50 grams of marijuana[; and possession with the intent to distribute drug paraphernalia.
McCarraher was subsequently lodged at the Cape May County Correctional Facility, pending court proceedings as per bail reform.
Also present at the residence at the time of the search warrant was a 21-year-old female who was not charged, and an 8-year-old juvenile.
Sutherland advised that his office will continue to work hand in hand with the local municipalities to target anyone selling illegal controlled dangerous substances.
