NORTH CAPE MAY- Lower Township Police are investigating a robbery that occurred on July 25th at approximately 11:03 PM at the Townbank Manor Apartments located at 620 Townbank Road in the North Cape May section of Lower Township.
A male resident at that location had just taken his trash out, while returning to his residence he reports he was approached by two subjects armed with weapons. They demanded he empty his pockets at which point they stole his vehicle keys. The victim escaped into his residence where the suspects attempted to force entry through the front door, other occupants of the residence were pushing against the door to prevent the suspects from gaining entry. The two suspects fled the area when the Lower Township Police were called.
The subjects were described as being two black males, one wearing a bandana to hide his face and the other a white hockey mask.
Lower Township Patrol Officers immediately responded to the area to conduct a search. Located by police officers in a small wooded area near Townbank Road was a dark colored ball cap, a dark colored sweatshirt and a loaded pump-action shotgun. Approximately one block from this location a black male subject was stopped by police, while speaking to him it was discovered he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. During a search of this individual, additional evidence led to his arrest for the robbery which occurred moments earlier at Townbank Manor Apartments. Lower Township Detectives responded to the area along with th Cape May County Sheriff’s Deparftment K-9 Unit to assist with the investigation.
Arrested was Kenyatta Mitchell of 3910 Bayshore Road, North Cape May, NJ, he was charged with robbery, burglary, and numerous weapons offenses. Bail was set at $100,000.00 dollars. Subject presently is incarcerated at the Cape May County Correction Facility.
The second suspect is still at large and is described as being a black male, wearing a hoodie, a dark pair of jeans with a thin build.
