Police Search for Alleged Wife Beater

MIDDLE TOWNSHIP POLICE RELEASE:
On 07/10/2009 at 7:44pm, a hysterical child from 555 Goshen Road who was asking for help for her Mother who was being beaten by her Stepfather contacted Officers of the Middle Township Police Department.
According to the caller the male subject who was identified as William McClurkin of that address was beating the female subject in the head. Thereafter a neighbor also reported the incident by calling 911.
Upon arrival of Officers, it was learned that two male neighbors had interrupted the attack where the female victim was at one point rendered unconscious after being beaten in the face several times. The neighbors who had assisted the female victim were also assaulted by the accused and sustained minor injuries.
The female subject was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center for a possible broken jaw, a concussion and other physical injuries. Where she is being treated. Members of the Middle Township Patrol and Detective Divisions as well as assistance form the Cape May County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit as it was learned that prior to the Officer’s arrival the suspect fled the area on foot conducted an extensive search for the subject.
The suspect is identified as William McClurkin a five foot six inch black male approximately 180lbs and forty two years of age.
McClurkin is considered dangerous and if seen you should contact your nearest Police Department immediately. Please do not approach. Investigation by Ptl Ron Miller.
