STONE HARBOR — On Saturday, July 11, at 8:13 p.m., police received a shoplifting complaint from Jakes located at 229 96th Street. A description of the suspects was broadcast to all officers.
A short time later, officers stopped two individuals matching the description along the 200 block of 96th Street.
One of the subjects, later identified as Michelle Toohey-Obrien, denied any involvement and was unable to produce
identification. Toohey-Obrien became uncooperative and provided a false name to the officers investigating the incident. After further investigation, Toohey—Obrien consented to a search of her vehicle and was found to be in possession of the stolen item.
Toohey—Obrien was arrested and charged with Shoplifting, Obstructing the Administration of Law, and Hindering Apprehension. She was processed and released after posting bail on a warrant that was authorized by Judge Fowler.
Shirley Obrien, who is a family member of Toohey-Obrien and present during the incident, was found to have an active contempt of court warrant out of another jurisdiction
Obrien was arrested, processed, and released after posting bail.
