WILDWOOD – A Pennsylvania man was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound on the north end of the beach around 11 p.m. July 21.
According to a Wildwood police release, Wildwood Rescue rendered lifesaving measures to the man, whose name is being withheld by the Herald, and immediately transported him to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, in Atlantic City.
Police searched the area and found a Glock model 9mm handgun loaded with hollow-point ammunition and a single spent shell casing in the gully near where the man was found.
Police said the man is being charged with second-degree possession of a handgun and fourth-degree possession of hollow-point ammunition. He was released on a summons.
Any charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
