COLD SPRING — To date this month, Lower Township police made two drug seizures at commercial fishing docks here.
On Sept. 6, the first arrest, of a Virginian, was made.
Thomas A. Davis, 49, of the 9000 block First View Street, Norfolk, Va., was found inside his car allegedly awaiting suspected buyers in the vicinity of the former A&J Dock on Ocean Drive.
When police spoke to him, he disclosed he was in possession of eight bags of crack cocaine with a street value of $800.
Davis was charged with possession of crack cocaine and possession with intent to distribute crack cocainse. In addition, his vehicle was seized along with U.S. currency, and is pending forfeiture.
Municipal Court Judge David DeWeese set bail at $25,000 cash. Davis was remanded to county jail in lieu of bail.
On Sept. 21, a second seizure took place in the area of Schellinger’s Landing when a subject was stopped after detectives got information of his activities. They set up surveillance in the area.
A total 52 bags of heroin with street value in excess of $1,000 was seized, as was $680 in currency. That cash is pending forfeiture.
The vehicle in which Juan Burgoos, 29, of the 3000 block, Shunpike Road, Court House was riding was towed from the scene to Lower Townshhip police headquarters.
Burgos was charged with possession of heroin and possession of heroin with intent to distribute heroin. He was remanded to county jail in lieu of bail.
