Police Investigate Rash of Burglaries in Middle Township

By Herald Staff

MIDDLE TOWNSHIP- Middle Township Police are investigating several burglaries. Between the evening hours of August 29, 2009 and the early morning hours of August 30, 2009 the Middle Township Police Department responded to three burglaries of businesses. Advanced Auto Supply in Rio Grande, Joes’s Market in Burleigh and Super Munchies in Green Creek were all broken in to. In all three burglaries, suspects cut all the phone, cable and alarm lines to the businesses. In two cases the rear metal doors were pried open and in the other case entry to the building was made through a window that was boarded up.
Nothing was taken from Advanced Auto. A 32” flat screen TV and an undisclosed amount of money were taken from Joe’s Market. Entry was never gained into Super Munchies.
On August 29th at 11pm a Munchies employee heard banging at the back door. When he opened the door, he saw a white male, 6’00” tall, 170 lbs., dark hair, wearing dark pants and an unbuttoned blue flannel shirt, run from the back door. The employee did not report the incident until the morning when he found that the alarm and phone wires were cut and that the back door had pry marks on it.
On a date prior to these, Klenswite Pools in Rio Grande was broken into in a similar fashion. In that case, money, computers and pool equipment were taken.
Anyone having any information on these or other burglaries, is asked to contact the Middle Twp. Police Department Major Crimes Unit at (609)465-8700.
