Police Charge Beesley’s Point Teen with Aggravated Assault

OCEAN CITY — On May 15 at approximately 1:55 a.m., Ocean City Police responded to an alleged fight that was occurring in the area of Kingston Lane and Tennessee Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers were unable to locate any persons involved.
A short time later, police were requested to respond to Atlantic City Medical Center for an alleged assault victim from the earlier incident in Ocean City.
The investigation revealed that the victim had been allegedly assaulted by Jeffrey G. Johnson, 18, of Beesley’s Point, at the time of the reported fight.
The victim reported that Johnson struck him several times in the head and body with a baseball bat. During the assault a second person was also struck resulting in minor injuries.
The victim was transported to the hospital by friends immediately after the incident. The victim was being treated for severe head and facial trauma. At the time of the report, injuries did not appear to be life threatening.
On May 16, Johnson, was arrested at the Ocean City Police Department, on a warrant issued by Richard Russell, JMC, in the amount of $25,000 full cash bail on charges of aggravated assault w/ weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, and simple assault.
The investigation was conducted by Detectives Scott Morgan and Dan Lancaster.
