VILLAS — On Jan. 30 school officials in Lower Township reported that they had received information regarding a possible sexual assault of a 12-year-old female.
The initial investigation was conducted by School Resource Officer Albert Flitcroft and then turned over to the Lower Township Detective Division who determined that the incident actually took place sometime in July 2008.
After a lengthy investigation, detectives determined that the alleged victim had been under the care of her 21-year-old female cousin, Diondra McCray, 21, of Smith Street in Millville, at the time of the incident while staying at a residence in Villas.
During that time period, McCray had a party that included alcoholic beverages and invited several males over to the residence.
Detectives determined that during that party a juvenile male, 15, and Jeffrey Walker, 20, of Sixth Street in Vineland, had sexual relations with the victim.
On Feb. 6, detectives arrested the juvenile male and charged him with one count of aggravated sexual assault, a first-degree crime. He was charged on juvenile papers and released to his mother.
On Feb. 10, detectives arrested Diondra McCray and charged her with one count of endangering the welfare of a child, a third-degree crime, and one count of providing alcohol to a minor. She was lodged in the county jail on $15,000 cash bail.
On Feb. 11, detectives arrested Walker and charged him with one count of aggravated sexual assault, a first-degree crime. He was lodged in the county jail on $150,000 cash bail.
The investigation was conducted Flitcroft and Detectives Mel Hedum, Art Mason and Chris Lambert.
