STONE HARBOR – Officer Matthew Sokorai and Special Law Enforcement Officer (SLEO) II Arthur Knapp observed an individual urinating alongside the Stone Harbor Fire House Aug. 14 at 2:25 a.m. When they approached the subject, the subject fled around the block on 97th Street and subsequently complied with an officer in a patrol car to stop running on the 100 block 96th Street. During the brief foot pursuit, Officer Sokorai injured his knee and elbow when he fell on the sidewalk.
The individual, now known as Ryan McDade, 21, of Belle Harbor, N.Y., was arrested, processed, and charged with third degree assault, fourth degree obstruction, hindering apprehension, disorderly conduct and urinating in public.
A warrant was sought and authorized for $10,000 cash bail. Unable to post bail, McDade was transported to the Cape May County Correctional Center.
Officer Sokorai was evaluated by the Stone Harbor Rescue Squad and released.
This case is pending review by the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office.
