By Herald Staff

LOWER TOWNSHIP POLICE RELEASE:
ERMA — On Wednesday, Sept. 2, the Lower Township Police Department’s Communications Center received a 911 call from a female in the 500 Block of Seashore Road in the Erma Section of the Township indicating that her brother, who she stated has mental issues, was acting out.
When Corporal Kevin Boyle, Ptlm. Matt Dickinson and Special Officer Christopher Donohue arrived on scene, the female advised the Officers that her brother was now in possession of a large machetti. The Officers entered the residence with their weapons drawn and located Anthony Olszewski, age 40 in his bedroom holding a large machetti over his head.
Special Officer Christopher Donohue ordered Olszewski at gun point to drop the machetti and Olszewski immediately did so and was taken into custody. Olszewski was then transported by Lower Township Rescue Squad to Cape Regional Medical Center for a medical evaluation.
Olszewski’s sister then requested and was granted an emergency no contact restraining order against her brother by Lower Township Municipal Court Judge David Deweese.
Police Officers then confiscated the machetti Olszewski had been holding and several other edged weapons from his residence including two hand held sickles.
The incident was investigated by Corporal William Priole.
