OCEAN CITY POLICE RELEASE:
OCEAN CITY — On November 2, 2009 at approximately 11:45pm, Ocean City Police received a report of two suspicious subjects. The subjects were described as riding bicycles on the boardwalk near 16th Street carrying a flat screen television. Officers were able to locate the subjects a short time later near Moorlyn Terrace on the boardwalk. As the Officers approached the subjects they dropped the television and a pillow case filled with items. The subjects then jumped off the bicycles and fled the area on foot. The officers were unable to locate the subjects after a brief pursuit but did recover the stolen items.
On November 3, 2009 at approximately 10:00am, the police department received a report of a burglary and theft that occurred over night on 20th Street near the boardwalk. Taken in that burglary were a flat panel television and other items that matched those recovered by the police the previous night on the boardwalk.
A follow up investigation conducted by the Detective Bureau and Community Policing Unit led the officers to a residence in the 800 block of Plymouth Place. During that investigation the officers and subsequent follow up investigations the officers were able to recover several stolen items that included multiple flat panel televisions. It was also determined that the persons involved were involved with additional burglaries and thefts in Ocean City and Upper Township that have not yet been reported to police. At this time three persons have been charged with being involved in the incidents. They include one adult, Adam Pratt and two juveniles.
The Ocean City Police Department would like to encourage property owners to check their homes to determine if they may have been a victim of any recent burglaries. The investigation was a cooperative effort of the Detective Bureau, Community Policing Unit and Patrol Division.
