By Herald Staff

WILDWOOD — On July 24 Wildwood Police Department Detective Division and Bicycle Patrol Unit personnel arrested two suspects in the process of burglarizing a motor vehicle in a parking lot adjacent to the 2600 block of the Boardwalk.
According to police, the officers had been involved in an ongoing covert surveillance operation because of the recent rash of motor vehicle burglaries in the area.
Arrested and charged with burglary, theft and resisting arrest were Louis McCullough, 27, an unemployed chef who resides at 127 W. Wisteria Road, Wildwood Crest and Gilbert Haege, 27, an unemployed laborer, who resides at the same address.
Both were issued complaints for four counts of burglary and four counts of theft from incidents that took place earlier on July 24 in Wildwood.
Both defendants were issued complaints from Wildwood Crest Police Department for burglary and theft from several incidents that took place in that jurisdiction, from Middle Township Police Department for two burglary and theft incidents that took place in that jurisdiction and are facing pending charges of burglary and theft from Wildwood Police Department in connection with 15 previous incidents.
Municipal Court Judge David DeWeese set bail on McCullough and Haege on the initial charges from the Wildwood Police Department at $50,000, bail from Wildwood Crest Police Department at $50,000, and bail from Middle Township Police Department is still pending.
When police investigated, they recovered a number of items that had allegedly been stolen during the course of the motor vehicle burglaries.
At this time, identification of the owners of the property and notification of the owners about that recovery is being made.
Both McCullough and Haege were remanded to county jail in lieu of bail.
