COURT HOUSE – Middle Township High School was declared the winner of the Cape May County High School Mock Trial Competition after winning five out of six possible trials during Cape May County’s three-week-long competition at the Cape May County Superior Court, the Cape May County Bar Association announced.
Middle then competed on Feb. 5 at the Southern Regional Competition against MATES of Ocean County and won that competition.
They then went on to Round 2 against Mainland of Atlantic County, but fell short. Mainland won that match.
In a release, the Cape May County Bar Association expressed its pride in Middle Township “for advancing to the state competitions and representing Cape May County,” stated Michele Devine-Hartnett, executive director of the Cape May County Bar Association.
“We would also like to thank Cape May County Technical School, Lower Township High School and Wildwood Catholic High School for participating in this year’s competition. We hope they are looking forward to next year’s competition,” she continued.
The Middle Township Mock Trial consisted of Alex Casper, Ashley Smutnik, Victoria Shappell, Gabby Guiliano, Lauren Anderson, Ryan Hildebrandt, Dylan Rhile, Morgon Goranson, Alex Casper and Dominique McNeil.
Understudies were Casey Salvadore, Brandon Brady and Jack Wade. Martina Trapani and Joseph Towns are the teacher coaches and Fred Mick, was the team’s attorney coach.
Mock Trial coordinators were James Moore and Brett Yore.
