COURT HOUSE — On Oct. 31, Halloween evening in Middle Township, during Trick or Treat Night, several individuals separately posted statements on Facebook referencing candy possibly being laced with drugs and people being admitted to the hospital for treatment.
According to a Middle Township Police Department Nov. 1 release:
“During the course of the evening, our dispatch center received no calls for service involving medical emergencies due to someone ingesting tainted candy.
“Today, the department’s Major Crimes Unit conducted a thorough investigation and spoke with multiple individuals who were identified as contributing to the statements made on Facebook.”
The investigation concluded the statements were false and were posted via hearsay through third parties.
