Middle Township Asks Federal Court to Fine Train Operator

By Herald Staff

COURT HOUSE — According to a release from Middle Township Committeeman Steve Barry, the township filed a motion in Federal Court Oct. 9 to compel Anthony Macrie, principal of Cape May Seashore Line Inc., to remove the remaining rail car in Rio Grande.
Macrie agreed to a court order that provided all remaining train cars be removed from the Rio Grande site by Sept. 1.
According to the release, Macrie is in violation of that court-approved agreement as he has failed to remove one rail car, which remains an eyesore.
The township has asked the court to fine Macrie $1,000 a day for each day, beginning Sept. 1, that he is in violation of the court agreement.
