Marijuana Sales Bring Charges

WILDWOOD – Cape May County Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor and Wildwood Police Chief Robert Regalbuto announce the arrest of Anderson Johnson, 52, of Wildwood for the distribution of marijuana.

This arrest was the conclusion of a cooperative investigation between the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Task Force, the Wildwood Police Department Detective Division and the United States Postal Service.

Johnson was arrested Oct. 29 during the execution of a court authorized search warrant at a residence in the 100 block of West Spicer Avenue. As a result of the search warrant, approximately 13 pounds of marijuana was seized. Also, approximately $2,100 in cash and a 2001 Volvo convertible was seized and will be submitted for forfeiture as being proceeds from the distribution of narcotics. The estimated street value for the amount of marijuana seized is approximately $40,000.

As a result, Johnson was charged with distribution of CDS and distribution of CDS within 500 feet of a public property. Bail was set at $100,000, full cash, by Judge Dorothy Garrabrant. Johnson was lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center in lieu of bail.

Prosecutor Taylor stated his office will continue to work hand in hand with the local municipalities along with state and federal agencies to target anyone selling illegal controlled dangerous substances. The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
