Man Shot in Woodbine Overnight, State Police Investigating

WOODBINE — A 29-year-old male was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center for treatment of a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the leg, state police said Monday night.
Troopers at the Woodbine station were called to the scene on the 600 block of Grant Avenue shortly after 11 p.m., and reported the man was lying in the street in stable condition. According to state police, Jose Viera was shot in the leg below the kneecap. Police said entry and exit wounds were visible.

Viera told police that an unknown suspect ran past him in the street, turned around and took a shot at him.
Belleplain Emergency Corps and Medic 9 responded to the scene. Viera was transported to the hospital treated and released.
The shooting remains under investigation by Trooper J. Wheeler and Detective M. Devine. Anyone with information is asked to call (609) 861-5698.
